Boulder Lake Snowshoe Race [Braveheart Series]
8K and 4K Snowshoe
Boulder Lake Managment Area
Duluth, Minnesota
Website: http://www.boulderlakeskirace.com/
Registration: www.ZapEvents.com
From the
race director:
The 10th Annual Boulder Lake Ski & Snowshoe Race
presented by Salomon has been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb
17th.
The lack of snow has made our backup hope not possible
to
hold a lake race, and the snowshoe course is not groomable
until more snow arrives. The forecast is calling for
extremely
cold temperatures starting Sunday as well, so we decided
the
best thing to do is
reschedule all the races to Feb 17th when we
should be able to pull off the regular course through the
woods.

Note from
race director:
The trails were freshly groomed this morning (1/21/13),
thanks to the
couple inches of snow we received over the past few
days! The trails
are looking good, and should only continue to improve as more
snow
and winter weather is predicted to come our way this week!
So, be ready to SNOWSHOE!

2013 Entry
form in PDF
From the race director: Our
snowshoe trails are in poor condition.
The warm temps and heavy rain have made our lowland forest
a skating
rink. Luckily, there is no open water like there was last
year.
That said, we are still planning to hold the race. We
may
have to reroute it and we still need to determine
whether
it will be on foot or on snowshoes. This will be
contingent
on the condition of our hiking trails over the next
week+.
For the time being, the race is still on!
Trail Conditions As Of 1/22/2013:
Snowshoe conditions remain the same.
At this point, we are encouraging racers to wear snowshoes
with crampons
or race on foot using a removable ice-traction device such as
Yaktrax.
Snow is in the forecast for Friday so another trail condition
will be posted on Friday.
